A new EU Action Plan on Integration & Inclusion will be published in Q4 (by end December) 2020.
While integration is a competence of Member States, the EU may establish measures to support and incentivise Member States’ activities in this area. This work has been ongoing for some time: the Common Basic Principles for immigrant integration policy were adopted as far back as 2004 (and reaffirmed in 2014), the European Agenda for the integration of third-country nationals in 2011, and the first Action Plan on the Integration of Third-Country Nationals in June 2016.
Given Member State competence in the area of integration, the new 2020 Action Plan will be non-legislative, but form part of an anticipated second ‘package’ linked to the New Pact on Migration & Asylum.
You can follow the process for adopting the Action Plan on the webpages of the European Parliament.
