ICMC Europe is pleased to announce the publication of the fourth edition of the SHARE Network Magazine - a special issue on volunteering!  Introduced by SHARE Resettlement Ambassador Dilora Mukhtorova, who was resettled to The Netherlands with her familiy in 2013, this issue is fourth in a series of 6 electronic editions planned for 2014-15.  Click here to read copies of previous editions.

In this edition, you'll find:

  • A special feature on the 'SHARING through Mentoring' programme, the SHARE peer exchange initiative to build capacity for volunteering in refugee resettlement.  Read about the ongoing exchange between the SHARE Mentor Partnership from the Dutch region of Limburg and the SHARE Implementing City  Tampere in Finland, supported by ICMC and SHARE partner the EUROCITIES network, including the recent learning visit to Limburg by a delegation from Tampere.
  • A report back from 'What Makes Voluntering Work?' A SHARE Expert Seminar on Volunteering co-hosted by the Limburg Council for Refugees in Maastricht in October 2014, including the seminar conclusions and how they will be used in the 'SHARING through Mentoring' programme.
  • News from the SHARE Network! Learn more about partnerships, initiatives, successful practices and approaches in volunteering, and the crucial role that volunteers play in meeting the needs of new arrivals across Europe  - in the municipality of Sittard-Geleen; at SOS Emergenza Rifugiati Milano (SOSERM)  in the city of Milan; a local volunteer programme from the Swedish city of Eskilstuna that has now become national initiative; recruiting and training volunteers at the Portuguese Refugee Council (CPR); and helping refugees to volunteer at the Sheffield Volunteer Centre in the UK.
  • A short report from the first SHARE Webinar 'Recognising and Responding to Trauma amongst Refugee Populations' - and more opportunities to get involved in upcoming SHARE webinars and online training initatives.

As ever, we welcome your comments, feedback and input on this fourth edition of the SHARE Network Magazine, and your ideas and suggestions for forthcoming issues.  For more information, please contact Magdalena Boehm (
